Edu Cerro

Eduardo Cerro is an Argentinian born artist who has been drawing and painting ever since he can remember. He has been making art and music under the banner of La Luz Mala for the last 25 years or so. La Luz Mala is in reference to an Argentinian folk tale about hovering lights in the night that first ignited his imagination as a child and is still a constant source of inspiration tied to his South American roots. Living primarily in the US since 1986, Edu came into tattooing through the skateboarding and underground music scene of the late 80’s and 90’s. Tattooing at the time was an exciting new world to explore and has been the main focus of his career as an artist for over 30 years.

Edu’s aesthetic is heavily influenced by “adult” comics from the 1970’s from the likes of magazines like FIERRO and heavy metal album covers of the 70’s and 80’s. Later discovering skateboarding and underground hardcore/punk music and art, it was an organic road that led to tattoo art in the early 90’s.

Edu has been consistently learning and honing his art through tattooing, illustration, painting and music, and considers himself a life long learner.
