Coronavirus days

I made about 50 paintings in this series throughout 2020-2023 as a way to process the insane amount of events happening during the early years of COVID. The floating rock cities are meant to symbolize societies separate from nature; our decaying attempt to be outside of the natural order. At the time it seemed quite obvious that the way we were going as a society was not sustainable… broken cables symbolizing lack of understanding and broken communications, fires for all the social unrest and some cables still connected to “The Earth” in small attempts to still connect with our natural world. It’s heartbreaking that in 2024 as I write this it seems that we are not only still doing business as usual, but the pandemic created an even larger chasm between the haves and have nots.
