illustrating in acrylic, ink and gouache

As a kid first learning to draw in Argentina in the 70’s and 80’s some of my biggest influences were adult comics such as the ones that would appear in FIERRO and SKORPIO magazine. I would study the covers and panels for endless hours and wonder how I could learn to draw and paint like these giants. To this day any single image by the likes of Jean Giraud, Juan Giménez or Enki Bilal elicits a stronger response in me than any painting I’ve looked at in a museum. I think that for this reason making paintings in an illustration style is forever my favorite way to paint. It may not be considered high art by some gatekeepers of the art world but to me it’s the most beautiful way to express an idea.
